Padraig Barrett, Paramedic, BSc Hons
HR & Compliance
Podge is the Managing Director of PB Medical Services.
In 2016, Podge relocated from Cork City, Ireland, to Surrey to begin his career within the NHS Ambulance Service. He started as an Emergency Care Support Worker and progressed through each clinical grade while completing his degree in Paramedic Science, Podge qualified as a Paramedic in 2024.
Over the past decade, Podge has gained extensive experience across a variety of patient-facing roles, providing emergency and urgent pre-hospital care to patients with a wide range of medical and traumatic conditions. This breadth of experience has given him a strong understanding of frontline ambulance operations and the importance of delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care.
Alongside his clinical practice, Podge has a particular interest in command and control. For five years, he worked in a dual-role capacity as a Resource Dispatcher, coordinating emergency ambulance resources, supporting operational decision-making, and helping to ensure patients received timely and appropriate responses. This operational experience has provided him with valuable insight into the complexities of ambulance service delivery and emergency response management.
Over the past two years, he has developed a strong interest in Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR). During this time, he has supported the planning, development, and delivery of multi-agency emergency exercises, bringing together ambulance, police, and fire and rescue services. Working in accordance with the *Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP)*, Podge has helped to strengthen interagency collaboration, improve emergency response capabilities, and promote effective joint working between partner organisations.
As Managing Director of PB Medical Services, he is committed to delivering exceptional, bespoke paramedic-led care that is tailored to the needs of every client and patient. Podge is incredibly proud of the dedicated team we have built and the professional, safe, and compassionate services we provide. Our focus is always on clinical excellence, strong governance, and ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of care, no matter the event or environment.
Jay Garland, Paramedic, BSc Hons
Clinical
Jay is the Clinical Director of PB Medical Services.
Jay qualified as a Paramedic from the University of Surrey and has dedicated his time to working for an NHS Ambulance Trust whilst also spending time within Clinical Education.
Jay went on to enter event medicine looking for a new challenge and soon became the Medications Manager for a large UK Based event company. Jay has a strong clinical background and is due to commence his Masters in Critical Care this year.
Jay joined PB Medical Services to help lead our Clinical Direction and Governance across the organisation, helping us reach for clinical excellence and work toward achieving our CQC Registration.
Sam Bowden, Paramedic, BSc Hons
Operations
Sam is the Operations Director of PB Medical Services
Sam began his journey into pre-hospital care in 2011 starting as an emergency care assistant working for a private organisation working on contracted to an NHS Trust attending low acuity calls and assisting the Paramedic on higher acuity calls. Sam joined an NHS Ambulance Trust in 2015 and went on to progress through a range of skill grades before completing a degree in Paramedic Science at St Georges University London, qualifying as a Paramedic in 2021.
During his career Sam has spent plenty of time in the event medical sector working for a range of organisations in different roles. Sam spent time learning and understanding business and operational management and went on to become the clinical manager of a large UK based event medical company. Sam has a wide range of experience across smaller capacity events through to high acuity, large capacity music festivals.
Sam now works in Patient Safety and spends time patient-facing across the event medical sector. Sam joined PB Medical this year as our Operations Director bringing his wide range of experience and knowledge from event medicine.
